nursing

The MRI showed that my father has an intraparenchymal hematoma and edema. It’s a blood clot in the brain which resulted to swelling and some other things. The doctors said that it is better than what they have expected. They wont perform an intracranial operation. They just prescribed medications to melt the clot and reduce the swelling. So we’ll just have to wait now. The doctors cant tell how long this will take but we cant do anything but to wait. It’s a torture but we have to bear with it.Im just thankful that a lot of people are showing support.

Sometimes, I cant hep myself from crying seeing that a lot of people loves my father. Relatives, friends, even his classmates from high school call and drop by to know how he is doing. Its just hard that sometimes we do not know what to tell when they ask how he is. We hope that we could tell that he’s fine…soon.

Dear Daddy

Its been more than two weeks now since your stroke. We thought that you were ok and getting well but you were not. Yes, you can talk, you can eat, you can sit and even walk a bi in your first week, but all those did not reflect your real condition. The doctor said that the blood clot in your brain is healing because she can see that you're strong. She even allowed you to undergo therapy sessions already. But the results of your recent CT scan showed otherwise.

Your brain is swollen and your blood clot has grown larger. The doctors donot know the cause of that clot. They said that it might not be related to the stroke contrary to the initial findings. They suspect that it might be a tumor that might have been there but we just did not know about it. Tomorrow, you'll be checked through MRI to let the doctors know more about that clot. We hope that it could be healed through medication because if not, you’ll have to undergo surgery. Daddy, we do not want that to happen.

Daddy, we’re sorry we haven’t told uncle about it yet. But Ate and I thought that you would recover fast so we decided to just tell him later. We do not want uncle to worry. He is old and far and we do not want to subject him into an emotional torture. But with your condition, I guess we have no other choice but to tell him. But Daddy, Ate does not want to talk to him because she cant do it. She might just cry the whole time so I guess I have to do it then. I hope that I wont be such a cry baby when I talk to uncle.

Daddy, we hope and pray that you get well soon. This is so hard for all of us. Its hard for you because you want to do a lot of things but you cant. Youre always telling us that you wanted to go home because they need you in the field. You want to go home because there are a lot of things to do there. And that’s what causes so much pain in us…seeing you helpless. Seeing you like a child…like a baby perhaps who cant do things his own. Don’t worry ‘Dy, we’ll take good care of you. But we hope and pray hard that you get well really soon because we hate to see you in this condition.
